Re: Ocz Memory With My P5k !!

I don`t see any reason why not (although occasionally there are conflicts between certain manufacturers products). The main problem with memory is the voltage. I think most P35 `boards run 1.8v @ default & most memory requires 2.0+, so on install you may have to start up with a single stick, raise voltage in BIOS and then fit the second stick (check with manufacturer on the voltage requirements). Sometimes running large amounts of RAM requires a raising of the NB (Northbridge) volts (NB contains the memory controller) for stability, bear in mind however, that raising volts increases heat etc.

You don`t mention price etc. of the Above RAM. Saw this yesterday (has gone up, was £99):

    OCZ 4GB Kit (2x2048) FLEX II Series DDR2 PC2 9200 1150 MHz Dual Channel Water Cooled Flex II XLC Heatsink - OCZFXT11504GK - www.microdirect.co.uk

Unless you`re running the memory at speeds faster than the processor, you may be better off with lower speed (& cheaper) RAM. @ 1:1 your CPU would require a 500FSB to fully utilise your chosen RAM (575FSB for the RAM mentioned by me, above!) This is extremely high overclocking territory.

    Hope this helps.

Atm my G.Skill 4gb 1066mhz memory is only running at the 6400level instead of 8500 which is a bit annoying.. there is a tutorial though on the asus forum telling you how to fix it
    Asus P5KC / Intel Quad Q9450 @ 2.66ghz / Scythe Mine Cooler / 2 x 2gb G.Skill 8500+ / 2 x 160 Maxtor HDD/ xfx9800gtx xxx / Antec p182 / Corsair 650watt / Samsung 26" hdtv / Logitech Mx518 / Microsoft rt2300

Seems fair to me, buy your own first, then tell others.
