    Struggling to choose!

Okay chaps, some help here please!
I currently have a 150GB Raptor which I'm using for the OS but require an additional drive as I intend to move the daily run stored data and programs e.g. my documents and games away from the OS and browser.
What would be my best choice of HDD to buy for this do you reckon?

Depends on how many pennies you have and how many gigs you need.

Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

    Re: Struggling to choose!

Yes, indeed how many gigs are needed? at the last count, not including personal data stored elsewhere off the system I roughly had only 130GB on the Raptor. Most of this is now is to be moved onto the new drive but with programs becoming larger everyday who knows how much one may need over the coming years? But still, 1TB is a huge amount, well for me anyhow, can I really justify that huge amount of space basically for program files at the extra cost. I'm not too concered about the price as I wouldn't be changing/upgrading for many a year, but still feel the need to be sensible regarding the overall benefit of the extra outlay and size, just to gain a slightly quicker access time. On the other hand I don't want to get caught short, is the F1 that quick?.

    Re: Struggling to choose!

I'm trying to achieve security/redundancy by splitting the data and gaining slightly more capacity but not at the expense of defeating the object of the Raptor, if you know what I mean.

    Re: Struggling to choose!

If you can wait a bit then the new WD VelociRaptor packs 300GiB, as mentioned in the news forum the other day, HEXUS.net - Headline :: Western Digital unearths VelociRaptor : Page - 1/1.

I agree with you about the need for such hugh storage capacities, I've prob. got evan less stuff on my drives than you. Only really handy for video and music fans who have a hugh collection of media (ok, also if you have a large database/s.)
