Re: hi all need help CPU+Mo borad

    go for the 2nd option..
Intel's quad cores beat AMDs hands down atm.
but you should probably look at the Q6600 tbh, quite a lot cheaper and you could easily just overclock it to 2.66GHz and get exactly the same performance, or overclock it further and get better performance

Don't mean to sound rude, but 1000W PSU? Why? What are you doing...powering 25 Electric heaters?
Oh, and you may already know that the Q6700's are about to take a huge price reduction to be only a little more than the Q6600's, so will then be a good value buy.

They have been price dropped AFAIK, 170ish now? and the Q6600 is now around 135

Re: hi all need help CPU+Mo borad

    What Ommid said.

Personally I would be looking at Q6600 (£35 is still quite a jump when we know how well the Q6600 OCs) and going with a P35 or X38 board unless you really want to go SLi which obviously you don't or else the AMD wouldn't have been an option.

Oh and you will never need a 1000W PSU even running SLi or Crossfire you will not be needing more than 700W and probably less than 500W actual draw (you may need a higher rated PSU than 500W to achieve the required 12v load).

Re: hi all need help CPU+Mo borad

ok 1000w psu is over the top but i will not have to worry about it then but i think 600 to 800w will do

and yes the Q6600 is £133 and Q6700 £175 and thats the £200 is max i can pay fopr a cpu

Re: hi all need help CPU+Mo borad

Get the Q6600 and the Corsair 620w - the 520w Corsair would do, but you seem very keen to over spec the PSU...

Re: hi all need help CPU+Mo borad

so it looks like i will get the q6600 and yes i will cut the PSU down to 600w so next is 2 of 1GB XFX 9600GT, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), Mem 1800MHz, GDDR3, GPU 650MHz, Streams 64, a good idea or not

Re: hi all need help CPU+Mo borad

imo not, If I were you i wouldnt buy XFX, and also I wouldnt by a 9600gt or go sli with it, Id get either an 8800gtx or with the money you want to spend you can even get a 9800gtx.

It all depends what you want to do, What size is your monitor? What is your main use?

No point getting 2 9600 tbh. Get one 9800GX2 if you must have that much power. 9800GTX is fine on its own though and can be had for under £200. Get another one down the line if you need two.

Agree. Useless the OP has one of the few and expensive 19" LCD's that do more than 1280x1024 which is the standard for the majority then a single 9800GTX or 8800GTX will be more than enough.
