    Sorting out RAM

Ok, I finally managed to discover the make of my memory sticks, I think it goes a little something like this:

    DIMM #1 - Nanya Technology DDR-SDRAM PC2100 - 256MB
    DIMM #2 - " " " " " "
    DIMM #3 - DDR-SDRAM PC2700 - 512MB

    The timings r 134.7 Mhz, 6 2 2 2.5

Ok so anyway i'd been noticing very low benchmark scores on 2001 and 03', and I remembered that this RAM is like a year and a half old, do u think its time push these up? or maybe something else?

the reason you're getting low scores in 3DMark2001 is because the lack of bandwidth, the P4 especially likes memory bandwidth, notice how the P4C was much much better than the P4B, there was no big architechtural change, just an increase in front side bus, and their performance was much much better. I'd say get some PC3200 at least

yeh i agree with BigZ, but dont go and spend big money as its really not worth it, sum cheap crucial/kingmax 3200/3500 will do the job just fine.

also the speed of your pc2700 ram is being capped at pc2100 speeds cos of the pc2100. you invest in another pc2700 stick of ram. should be around £45 on crucial or ebuyer.

preferably get a 512mb stick so you can have a gig o' ram
