    Question Laptop purchase advice

    Hi guys,

I am looking for a gaming laptop for under £500.I wont be gaming much on the laptop but i would appreciate 256mb or above of DX10 gfx.I am looking for a core 2 duo processor and hdd space of 80gb or above.Memory of 2gb or above would be great. An inbuilt Wifi would be a bonus but not compulsory.

I am not sure about the screen size but 13" or above will do.

    I definetely dont need Vista!

I would love to have a sexy black laptop.

    Any suggestions!

    Thx in advance

    Re: Laptop purchase advice

i was going to upgrade my pc... but now am looking for a simular spec laptop

the best i found was the 1530 XPS

Dell XPS M1530 Special Offers, Cheapest Deals and Evalue Codes | dmXdimension

i randomly serached you tube and found recording of people displaying games runniing on them!

if you find better let me know!

i'd do for the 15" - the 17" is a desktop replacment really to big!

    1310 is a 13"

    1500 is a 15"

    both worth a look, the 1500 can be had with a 256mb 8600GT, 3GB of RAM, 2.4GHz C2D and a 250GB HDD for £560

buy one with a little ram as possible & upgrade it yourself (check how many available slots there are first) usually saves you a few quid + you can sell the old stuff!

    Re: Laptop purchase advice

But then with dell, the higher the spec you start out with, the more you save.

For your needs the vostro 1500 sounds perfect.

    2.4GHz C2D - so lots of grunt
256MB 8600GT (DX10) - works very well on all most all modern games.
250GB Hard drive - mror than meets your needs
3GB of RAM is plenty enough
Can be specced with XP (although as has been said, that negates the need for DX10 unless you are just biding your time)

and its black mag alloy which looks very nice indeed and feels very well built.

The only down point is its about £60 over budget but worth every penny.

I might consider vostro 1500 then.I am more than happy with the specs. And its good value for money.
