psu for xfire

hi guys just wonderin if you could tell me if this would be any good for my xfire 3870 setup

1000w psu

1000w is over kill, 600w (on a decent reliable PSU will be more than enough) some examples all modular, cheaper models can be had if they are not modular,

xClio Greatpower 650w - Cheap but good quality reliable components
Corsair HX620w - Highly recommended PSU some people don't like the cables
Enermax Liberty 620w - Again highly rated slightly more expensive than the Corsair

i just thought if i buy the 1000 watt i will have the option of upgradin further with the 1000w as i will be able to add an additional graphic card later if i choose to change my chipset to x48

using a QX6850 3ghz and a x48 mobo..

i know its using the 3870x2 card, but afaik you can xfire a 3870 and an 3870x2 together to get tri-fire.. so the above wattage readings give you an idea at least.

if your definitely going to go for crossfire then i would get the 'enermax galaxy dxx 850 watt' they used in that review,, if its good enough for hexus labs, then its good enough for us.

the 600-650watt psus will be under high load when you play games, so i think it's best to go a bit above and give your system some breathing room..


if you decide against xfire then just get one of the psu's alread mentioned.. anymore wouldn't be worth it in the sense of cost and being overkill.

That would be my choice........its the best PSU in its class atm i think even though thats my opinion.

right guy's don't be crossed i have just bought the corsair 620hx i found it at a good price (i think) 55 pound delivery included

i hope this is enough for my setup

e6600 cpu (might go q6600 very soon or e8400)
2x2gb corsair xms2 800mhz
2 x 3870hd 512mb gigabyte cards (x-fired)fitted with ttake duorb coolers
asus p5k (not pro or deluxe just p5k)
pioneer dl drive
scythe ninja rev.b with 120mm blue led fans

i also have these pci-e power adapter surge protectors (i have 2 of these)
is it still worth using these with my new psu(check the link below)

You definately don't want to skimp on the PSU, as there's the potential for bringing down a few components of your system if it fails.

Go for the decent brands like the ones recommended.

EZCOOL are very poor quality units and should be avoided.
