    Connecting stereo to PC

    hello,

I'm using an X-fi elite-pro (with the external console), and need to connect a cassette player to my computer. The only out put I see on the cassette player is one for headphones. There are loads of inputs on the sound card console though. Which should I use? So far, I've been thinking about using this:

Maplin > 3.5mm Stereo Plug to 2 Phono Leads

I would connect the stereo plug into the headphones output and then connect the phono heads to the console. Would this work?

    Thanks!

    Re: Connecting stereo to PC

    You have two options,

    A) Use a 3.5mm to 6.35mm - This cable plus one of these.

    B) Use a 3.5mm to 2x Phono (the one you suggested) - Here are some cheaper 3.5mm to phono cables from Maplin.

Option B allows you to connect the stuff via the back of the I/O unit where option A allows you to do it from the front.

Both options work perfectly, just depends if you want the wires hanging out the front or the back of the I/O unit.

    Re: Connecting stereo to PC

    hello,

    Thanks for the advice!

I've tried hooking up the stereo, but the quality of the sound is awful.

I used an adaptor to attach the phono cables to the line in 3 input, with a slight increase in quality. However, it is still terrible. Could it be the cable? How can I test it? I did not purchase the gold plated one.

    Thanks!

    Re: Connecting stereo to PC

Erm why not just use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm and connect it to the rear line in on the card?

    Re: Connecting stereo to PC

Turn the cassette player volume down, via the 6.35mm make sure the two line in knobs are turned off (so you hear the click)
