it's cheap, but don' expect too much from the Via KT600 chipset - it's pretty much trounced by the nVidia nForce2 400 Ultra, and prices on nForce2 also starts at £45

Plus, the -X versions apparantly don't support Dual Channel memory mode. I was trying to find out if to get that exact motherboard and couldnt figure out what the -X stands for (it doesnt say on their website) , eventually someone told me it was lacking the dual channel mode, and also as the guy says, the KT600 usually has inferior performance to the Nforce2 chipset.

Oh and a question, while we're here, is the MSI K7N2-L Delta motherboard a nForce2 400 Ultra chipset?

the kt600 can't do dual-channel in ANY form

and if the description says "400" and "nforce 2" at some point & the cpu support lists 3200+, then it'll do the job

it only has single-channel, but then so did the on you were looking at. its bigger brother (the a7n8x deluxe) is a fine board, so sounds good - not bad on a budget

does dual channel make much of a difference?

im not wanting to overclock and really the board is just to replace my old n force 2 board that i am giving to a mate (it has onboard geforce 4 mx ) so he can build a cheap cheap system, he has gave me 5o quid for the motherboard and my modem so it isnt really an upgrade just a replacement.

    the -X is not.

and it doesn't really make a lot of difference, athlons are hard-pushed to make use of the bandwidth

kind of an unknown quantity. one of the small manufacturers, like chaintech. nothing remarkable about them really.

seems fairly standard, can't see anything intrinsically wrong with it. i'm a firm believer in buying boards from lesser known manufacturers (no, ECS Jetway & PC Chips aren't lesser known, they're widely known to be utter **** which isn't the same thing, before anyone comments), as my Chaintech & Albatron boards were light years ahead of my Abit board in terms of functionality, stability & general polish

not sure if the -L or the -RL is gold, one of them's a lovely shade of lavendar

i'm more of a sucker for silver anyway
