    3DMark06 Scores

Hi am running 3DMark06 at 1360x768 and here are my scores:

I was just wondering how much more you think i could squeeze out of it... i don't want to OC the CPU too much and i was also wondering about my RAM, it should be at 1066mhz, any ideas how to fix this? Many Thanks

Its your CPU thats holding you back.

    I have a Q6600 @ 3.2ghz and an 8800GTS G92 and hit 15371.

Push you CPU more and the score will shoot up. 3D Mark 06 is very CPU based.

    Re: 3DMark06 Scores

    No your memory is fine.

You are currently running it at 400mhz, which is the correct frequency for operation at 1.8v as listed in the SPD. You are currently running at a 333:400 CPU:RAM clock as well.

If you wanted, you could change your divider in BIOS to 333:533 CPU:RAM, bump the RAM voltage to 2.1v and set 2T command rate to get your memory running at DDR1066, but it's not worth it and won't affect your 3dmark06 score significantly. Better to keep at 333:400 and leave yourself the margin for overclocking.

Shader clock and memory clock increases on my gfx card would help aswell right? seeing as only the coreclock has been preclocked to 740 instead of 675? (too many clocks)

Nowhere near as much as a little more clock on that CPU.
Remember aswell, as nice as it is to go for a good score on 3D Mark, its just synthetic and only give a very broad ball park figure on performance.

Yeah i'll probably do that when i can update the bios, when my pc starts i always have to press f1 to continue it says "unknown cpu, you need a bios update to unleash its full power"

NEVER USE THE AUTO UPDATER THAT ASUS GIVE YOU!!

    NEVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

always update it via the bios.
because the asus program is known to crash whilst updating and if that happens, it will render your mobo useless. ( it happened to me)

    Re: 3DMark06 Scores

If I was you I wouldn't push your hardware just to get better 3dmark scores. It's pointless. If you want to push your hardware to make it better for a certain game or for an application, then that would be worth it, but otherwise it's not worth doing. Mainly because a lot of games aren't CPU limited, so your Q6600 would be perfect even if it was running at stock speeds. In Crysis for example, you won't notice much difference on a hugely overclocked Q6600 compared to a stock one, because most of the work is done by the graphics card.

3Dmark is more like an overall benchmark, so you are best just aiming to improve specific things for specific games or programs. Otherwise you are stressing your PC just to make that number bigger which isn't of any use.
