    Gaming Keyboard/Mouse

I'm after a wired keyboard and mouse for fast paced FPS games.

My Logitech S510 Keyboard/mouse (wireless) is great for web surfing but it's not smooth during slow, deliberate mouse movements in FPS games. I have tried adjusting the sensitivity and mouse accel (in-game) and it doesn't smooth it out (with or without in-game mouse smoothing).

So I'd like a nice gaming mouse (wired) which doesn't cost more than say £20-30, ie nothing overtly fancy.

I did have an old microsoft optical mouse (intelli-mouse I think it was), served me well for 8 years and really smooth action with it...just a shame it's died a death.

Keyboard wise, I have a wired keyboard but it's large and clunky and so if there is a cheap (or part of bundle) wired keyboard that is adequate for gaming uses (ie chunky keys that can take a bashing...I'm not gently) would be cool too, but not essential.

    Re: Gaming Keyboard/Mouse

Gettng high quality keyboards and mice at a low price will probably be a little challenging. I personally believe that, given the importance of keyboards and mice, it is worth spending the money.

My partner has a G11 keyboard, and she swears by it. I'm afraid though as a laptop purist convert myself, I don't really have much use for a seperate keyboard anymore

If you can fork out a little more on the mouse, I would recommend the sindwinder. Despite its apparently 'special' shape, it is actually quite comfortable for a former intelimouse user, and works rather well. The only issue with it is that you can't rebind absolutely every single button on the mouse, only the main five

I've seen mice sell for stupids amount of money (£50+) which I deem as excessive.

Anyhow, the Sidewinder review I found said it may not suit people with small hands...define small hands?

For example I prefer the smaller xbox controller because everything is really close up and I can "lean" to hit other buttons whereas the old larger xbox controller was nice to use but I could no longer "lean" my finger to hit other buttons (concurrently if I have to). Does this mean I have small hands?

£32 isn't too bad for a mouse and I want to buy other DVD +/-R media too so I have a reason now to buy stuff from Scan (along with whatever my buddy needs too).

Saitek PZ30AU Eclipse Illuminated Keyboard - Blue

This combination has served me very well, shop around and I'm sure you'll find them a little cheaper.

    Re: Gaming Keyboard/Mouse

Just ordered the Microsoft Sidewinder, I couldn't justify the extra £10 for the Razer.

    It looks unorthodox...I like unorthodox!

I'll let you guys know how I get on.

I use to use a Logitech MX518 (with the hammered effect) which is a great gaming mouse. Razor are also very popular in the gaming community for both keyboard and mouses so it's probably worth having a peek at their website.

    Re: Gaming Keyboard/Mouse

I have a razer copperhead and its brilliant. On the side there are 2 buttons so you can change the sensitivity on the fly.

Very useful in games like BF2 when you need to go from low sensitvity with the sniper rifle to high sensitvy for manic running aorund like a headless chicken

    Re: Gaming Keyboard/Mouse

Sidewinder will be fine I'm sure.

Cheap logitech black keyboard could be nice too - they're pretty good. If you've got the money then a saitek II is lovely and compact while being good quality + ability to see keys in the dark.

    Re: Gaming Keyboard/Mouse

i have the mx 90 or something around that, its a logitech set and cost me only £10 (comes with duracell batteries so really £6 for the stuff) as i never saw the reason for spending £30 for a mouse and up to £50 for a keyboard, this set is perfect for me as its a good quality and the mouse is brilliant, smooth and very reliable.

I liked the sidewinder, if it was £15 i would buy it but thats me being cheap , hope you like it.

Keyboard - no benefit from a better keyboard, only point in a gaming keyboard is the backlight (the saitek eclipse 1 has the best backlight imo - btw saitek eclipse > saitek eclipse 2 backlighting)
Mouse - Steelseries Ikari Laser (optical fails with lift off)/Razer Deathadder (wouldn't recommend any other razer mouse ever except the krait if u have small hands)/Ms ime3.0/mx518/G5/G7
