Which mid-top GPU for quiet operation?

Hi guys, i'll be looking to RMA my msi 8800 gt soon, so i need a card to see me through the difficult times basically the one that will see me until the new range - architecture gets on the market, i'm looking for a silent card firstly, but no lower than the 8800 gt series. I've searched a bit and have come up with 2 variants: Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

I was actually stunned the other day when I heard the 8800GTS in operation. At idle it sticks around 33% speed and is pretty much inaudiable with good temps. Very impressive!

Gets a bit noisier when it ramps up for games but then what are speakers or headphones for

good thing about the GT is you can just stick on of these on
Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev. 2 VGA Cooler

which seems to give pretty good results espeically with the fans that you can buy seperatly and remains very quiet even with them. That's if the sonic fan isn't that great.

yea this is good example, when mine is on 33% u can hardly hear the thing, it starts getting noisy after 50%ish. i keep it at 70% good balance between not too much noise and cooling. above that it's blowing lots of air and noise.

Probably not as noisy as the jet engine on my 2900gt (or on all the dual slot ATI coolers)

However, I think Arctic cooling has some of the best coolers on the market.

Up until to the 3000 series came along . The stock 3000 cooler is very quiet, and the latest NV coolers are much quieter than previous too.

rma'd my msi 8800gt oc, got myself a palit sonic one and have to say it's a relief, at 33% can,t be heard, the fan hasn't gone up more than 50% in any games yet (just like a whisper), the top temp was 61, where the old managed to get to 80 at 100%, i think thats the best 130 quid i've ever spent, the old one is going on ebay the second i get it back
