5.1 speakers vary in volume....
well i have a set of 5.1 sbs 560(yeh not the best but was only £17 :P) but i notice that the front right/rear right are atleast double the volume of the left front/rear, i have the control panel thing and if i set both to max all i can hear is the right, if i mute the right i can barely hear my music etc. The difference from having the right on and the left is about 90% id say, incredibly loud the right is but the left its almost silent. Any ideas? they are still in warranty so perhaps it could be a hardware issue? it is pluged into a soundblaster 2 ZS, will try with onboard sound a bit.
also the center is just slightly louder than the left, hard to hear still.
Re: 5.1 speakers vary in volume....
double check to make sure that all the connections are where they should be and are properly pushed in. Sometimes if its not all the way in then the sound tends to be very light (similar to what your experiencing)
alternatively make sure that all the correct channels are enabled in the "volume" icon in the system tray
Re: 5.1 speakers vary in volume....
everything is pluged in fully, tried it on my onboard and its the same issue, checked to make sure everything is enabled but still no luck.
Re: 5.1 speakers vary in volume....
Have you checked the balance is correct and the plugs are both firmly seated?
Re: 5.1 speakers vary in volume....
Could it be that you are slightly deaf in one ear?

could actually, do suffer from hearing issues although they are not that bad but will double check by swapping them around so right is at the left of my ear etc :P.
Em i made sure all cables are firmly connected, it seems to be slightly better when i turn eax off but still bad
Re: 5.1 speakers vary in volume....
Sounds like a mixer inballance, possibly the amp if the set has one.
Re: 5.1 speakers vary in volume....
it only has a sub woofer, would it be possible to check if the speaker or the sub woofer is causing it but switching the right to the left connection and see if there is a change?
Re: 5.1 speakers vary in volume....
most sub woofer units I've seen, take all channels and distribute the audio to the satellite speakers, to perform amplification of the sound. I don't know what yours look like, though, but it's worth switching wires around, at least to rule out dodgy speakers.
Re: 5.1 speakers vary in volume....
i had a problem like this and it was the onboard sound, try looking for the updated drivers, it helped me sort it out, unles of course you have a dedicated soundcard, which i doubt as you bought a set of 5.1 speakers for 17 quid :D
