Decent budget 5.1 or 7.1 surround.

I'm not looking for anything that will be played very loud, just something to replace my Medusa 5.1's.
It would be nice if i could use them for my xbox 360 aswell (is that even possible!?)

Logitech X-540's are nice Good sound, decent bass and they are pretty loud when needed to be.

if your looking for speakers that is and not another set of headphones???

Yeah i was looking at the X540- they got great reviews.

I dont want another set of headphone- they get uncomfortable after about half an hour.

What is your budget exactly? That would make choosing the speakers a lot easier...

For some a "Budget" set of speakers is my Logitech G51's. You can get em now for around £100.

They sounds freaking awesome, all positive reviews I have seen plus the speakers look quite hot. Even comes with a remote control...

Yeah i was looking at the X540- they got great reviews.

I got the X540 about a year ago now, and they are great. They go reasonably loud, and I rarely have to turn them above 1/2 Volume. Also they look resonably smart, and have a good sub. Very impressed

That's just a problem with the medusas - I found them uncomfortable too, although not that quickly. You should be able to find a pair of headphones that can be worn all day. For me they were the Zalman theatre 6s but the sound quality and build quaulty is poor and people's heads differ so you might not find them as comfy as I did.

Don't worry about the surround sound bit for headphones, switching from the medusas to a poorer quality stereo set (steelseries siberia) I didn't notice much difference in being able to position sounds.

I use 5.1 to tell positioning in alot of games (such as CS:S). I rely alot on being able to pinpoint movements- the medusa's did the trick for this but still.

I would go for logitech X-530. These are a great set of speakers great bass great sound. Only thing with them is that you cant completely cut the bass with out changing settings on your software. lol.

i bought the X530's off a friend last night for £30, he is leaving school this year so is selling loads of the stuff he doesnt want to take to uni and to fund his hols to australia, havent tryed them out yet though

I bought my youngest son a set of those last year. They're surprisingly good for the price
