Mobo FSB
Hello, my AC7 cooler should be arriving tomorrow and I was plannign on OC'ing my Q6600 up to 3.6GHz. However, that would require an FSB of 1600MHz yet my mobo (ASUS P5N-T Deluxe) apparently has a max FSB of 1333MHz.
Will I still be able to go up to 3.6GHz? What will happen? D:!

Re: Mobo FSB
the max fsb refers to the stock fsb of the processor. You can manually adjust it as high as the board will allow. Should be over 3.6GHz. Be careful trying such a high overclock with the AC7 as it may get too hot under load.

Re: Mobo FSB
Also remember that while the board may be able to handle a FSB of 400 or more that doesn't mean that your Q6600 will be stable at that clock speed. While some people can happily run their Q6600 at 3.6GHz other peoples will not push much past 3Ghz. As with all things overclocking your milage may vary and remember while your Q6600 may clock to 4GHz it is only guarenteed to run at 2.4Ghz so if it wont run at 2.5GHz (let alone 3.6GHz) you can't really complain!

Re: Mobo FSB
Ahh, well I have it nice and happy at 3.0GHz at the moment so when I get the fan (which should come today!), I'll take it up slowly.
