What should I do with all these hard disks?

I seem to have acquired quite a collection of hard drives, several 300GB, one or two 250's, a 500 (that's on its way out, I think) and the other day I found a 750GB in a box. No idea where it came from. That's not including three external's, either. As I don't believe in selling hard disks I need to do something with them, I need a project. If they weren't so pricey I'd go for a Drobo, but I was thinking about a tower case with lots of room for drives - is there any software out there that would let me treat it like a NAS box with hotswapping, media serving and all that?

I found a tenner in my coat pocket the other day I was so effing chuffed.

But if you 'believed' in selling them I'm sure there'd be plenty of bidders.

I too would be interested in a DIY drobo system! Let us know how you get on with that, could be extremely useful to just tuck in a corner and leave on 24/7 and have it network to everything. Something like a stacker with those hotswap sata caddies from scan so just access them from the front, could probably fit 15 drives in! (Though I wouldn't have enough sata ports without investing in a raid card ).

Although unless you were good with linux and clever with programming (I'm not at either) it would have to be standard raid implementations which don't seem to be as convenient of the drobo 'leave it to sort it out itself' option.
