    Hsf

My current HSF sounds like a car when going at full pelt and makes my room vibrate like crazy... and it doesn't really seem to have that much effect (about 10-15C.)

It's possibly because one of the blades got broken off when my brother forgot to tie up my PSU wires out of the way, causing them to go into the HSF and snap off a blade.

Anyhow, I'm running a 5000+ BE on a AX78 and need a HSF. Preferably one that fits in without too much stress. I last had a NorthQ "UFO Low noise Aluminum CPU Cooler with 92mm Fan" which struggled to fit into the case (in the end, I had to move my RAM to the alternative slots to allow me to get it in without damaging it.)

I'm looking for something nice on Scan (because I'm buying some RAM/graphics card off them also) which isn't going to cost a fortune and will hopefully allow me to not have a full room vibrator and more sound than my puny little sound system can pump out.

    Re: Hsf

Hmm well I know I would go with the scythe mini ninja given the height restriction. It's really simple to fit on am2 boards and works nearly as well as the full size one. Comes with a quiet 80mm fan and doesn't need much air to stay cool

I have the full ninja on my BE 5000+ @ 2.8 and it barely gets above ambient at idle.

    Re: Hsf

I'm @ 3.1 or 3.2ghz at the minute.. can't remember which... have 2x180mm and 1x120mm fans to keep rest of computer cool and quiet...

They are unhearable even on full load, but the HSF sort of spoils the rest of it... just above ambient would be quiet enough - if it's cool enough

Any ideas how much it'll cost (roughly)

    Re: Hsf

Oh I meant ambient tempreatures, they stay very cool. Noise wise you won't hear it above case fans I'd imagine, unless they are near silent.

Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

£27 isn't cheap but I think it's fair for what you get.

    Re: Hsf

ooh. ambient temperatures.. I thought you meant ambient sound

My case fans ARE silent... just about anyway. I can occasionally hear them when I'm running at full load, with no sound at all elsewhere (so.. at midnight when I should be asleep and not on the computer.)

I'll think I'll go with that though. Thanks for the help!
