max temps for a 8800GTS g92?
well my card used to hit around 60C on load but after reformatting and stuff i just noticed it hit a massive 91C while playing hl2(for the first time) which even though gpu are able to sustain high temps it is still way to high imo. Surely this is very bad? i have the fan set at 50% instead of the normal 55/60% i used to use(the 29% error still here). My case is not great for cooling with its 4 80mm fans but got my cm 690 coming on monday. Just curious what temps everyone else gets at what fan speeds and that 91C is really dangerous?
Re: max temps for a 8800GTS g92?
91C is not dangerous at stock volts, but it's still a decent bit higher than you should be getting in any real game.
When is the last time you cleaned the heatsink's fins and the fan?
Re: max temps for a 8800GTS g92?
never cleaned the graphic card fan etc, i got some compressed air with some left so may just give it a spray later on.
Re: max temps for a 8800GTS g92?
The temp difference between a clean card and one that has been used in a case with no filters for a few months (or more) can be quite large.
Just pop the side panel off, hold the nozel of a vacuum cleaner by the GPU fan, and blast compressed air into the back of the card, from outside the case. It's the most effective way in my experience.
Re: max temps for a 8800GTS g92?
well my new case arrived and gave my card a quick blast(quiet a bit came out) and now at 50% (instead of 60%) it maxes at 64c.

Now that sounds more reasonable.
