I got both mine from KustomPCs: KustomPCs.co.uk - Microsoft MCE Remote Control
You can get them on ebay easily and probably cheaper, but I have a dislike of ebay
I've also made the mistake of getting other non-microsoft, supposedly 100% compatible reotes in the past. Guess what, they aren't quite as compatible as they would have you believe.
Can you use a standard IR receiver with it? Like one built into the front of a HTPC case for instance?
(I've already got the 360 remote, so see little sense in buying two)
Probably, but I have no idea how.
I once tried to play with LIRC or WinLIRC or something and got horribly confused.
I'll tell you waht Steve, I have a spare Philips MCE remote (without reciever) that you can have. As the xBox remote works with the MCE reciever, I assume MCE remotes work with the xbox.
I bought it for something like £3 somewhere
remind me about it
I've got one of those handy so I can try give it a try if I manage to find it !!! Scan occasionally have it on offer for < £4.
As for an ordinary MCE remote working with the 360, I don't think that will work. Because the 360 remote has some optimisations - it's quite a good remote, just a shame about the lack of AV buttons.
