Shuttle plugged into a TV?

Hello everyone!

I have just moved into a new flat and my uncle has kindly given me a 36" HD (as far as I can tell) Panasonic CRT TV. The reason I think it's HD is because it has compent inputs on the back, so correct me if I'm wrong!

Basically, I have a graphic card-less (except for the built in chipset) shuttle at home and I want to plug it into the TV so I can watch videos and stuff over the network. How would you guys go about setting this up? What graphic card/adapter would you buy? It has a PCI-e slot for graphics...

I'd like it took fairly nice on the screen and not cost too much!

VGA to component would be your best bet. Something similar to this lead

You're also going to need another to carry the sound. What inputs does the TV have?

okay cool, so i won't even need a proper graphics card to use it? That's good news. It has the left and right channel inputs for sound, so I guess I'll use a mini jack to component(?) again? I know what it looks like in my head but i'm not sure of the proper name.

Any idea how good the picture'll be on the screen? Will it be hard to set up the resolution properly? The shuttle is an ST20G5 model.

When you say graphic cardless do you mean it has onboard?

You might want to look at the ATI HD2400-2600 or the new 3000 series equivalents they are pretty good for this kind of thing.

yah it has on board graphics at the minute - i took the proper card out to put in my main pc.

I have Vista Ultimate running on my main computer - do you think it would be possible to use XP media centre on the shuttle and stream videos from the Vista computer? Or should they both have Vista installed?

Just because it has component it doesn't mean it is HD, a lot of better CRT TVs, which were only SD, had component in.

Okay so it has component in, and I'd like to use this to hook up my shuttle. Now i've been reading a couple of things and apparently you can't just attached a DVI-I port to a component input and have it work? I think there was some talk of a converter?

Please help, I'm finding this all very confusing!
