i.e. the one that comes with the 360 HD-DVD drive.
Can it be used with anything else? I don't have a 360 and it seems a bit of a waste, it's a nice looking remote.
Or is there re-sale value in it?

There is no IR receptor in the drive
Maybe there are some drivers for the PC... *goes off to google*
I was thinking you could use it with the MCE reciever.....
Yup, you can use it with the MCE receiver, or if you've got an IRDA port and MCE installed you should be fine.
Not much else in terms of usage, worth £10-15 to 360 owners (official price is £20 on its own)
Thanks dave
I might just include it in a bunch of other stuff when I eventually do a huge clearout
So it won't work with XP home?
Not as far as I know, though I'm sure some clever sod may have created some software to allow it to do so...
I'll give it a go with XP Pro and MediaPortal tonight.
Will control your tv a bit...
But annoyingly it wont change AV channels but you can bring up the info on the channel, change volume, channel etc. And of course turn on your 360 console remotely (as per the wireless controller).

Can you use it with the Xbox 360 Crossfire (wireless controller receiver) kit for Windows?
I don't believe so as it is IRDA (Infrared) rather than radio signal.
Just tried it with the MCE reciever on XP using MediaPortal.... and it works like a charm.
It isn't as good a remote as the actual MCE remote though. the button presses aren't as nice and it doesn't fit in your hand as well. But it does work.
One distinct advantage though is that all the buttons light up, including the number pad. This may make it to my bedroom HTPC client i think.
What part is doing the receiving Funkstar?
Media Portal or XP?
To be honest, i'm buggered if i know
lol, helpful Funkstar, very helpful
I do try
Actually, it must be XP. I just quit to the desktop and could select different icons on there with both the original MCE remote and the xBox remote.
