BFG 8800GT bios fan issues?

Well ive read in two places about some kind of fan bios issue with the BFG OC 8800GT.

Dose anyone know exactly what this issue is? What are the symptoms?

I bought the card recently, my idle temps are around 52c at the moment, whichs seems too high.

Mine is revision A2 with Bios: 62.92.1F.00.65

52c idle isnt too high at all....

mines at 51c idle.... (8600gts)

you'll probably find that under load the temps will reach 65c-70c and not much higher

i'm pretty sure that GFX cards can take approx 90c ish, and if there is a problem of too much heat the bios will switch the card off

Yeah, thats a good idle; mine idles around 40-45c, but my case is pretty cool. Underl oad, I've never seen it peak over 70c or so.

idle temp sounds fine for reference cooler, I cropped 20C off that by sticking an Artic S1 accelero, my 8800GT is much happier

Oh rite, thanks guys, do you think the temps will go down if the fan speed is increased to around 50%?

well maybe it'll drop by 5C or so, but raising the fan speed is only really important if playing games.

Well it started to idle at 61c not sure why on earth it rised

So i upped the fan speed to 50% and its now idling at 55c and 75c on load
