    WEI Memory Score

Before anyone says it - I know. WEI is not a proper system benchmarking tool, it isn't particularly in-depth or reliable and the scores don't mean too much. I know.

    But....

I guess I am just a little anal about these things...I have 5.9 for everything in WEI except for memory, which I have 5.6. No big deal I know, but I want to get it up to 5.9 as well. For no real reason other than my own entertainment and pleasure.

I already have 4GB corsair XMS2 memory set at 4-4-4-12 2.1v - this gives me 5.6 in WEI

I didn't want to get any more physical RAM at this point so I got a 4GB readyboost flash drive, plugged it in, enabled readyboost with 2GB of the drive (might use the other 1.something for storage or U3).

Nothing happend. Not even a 0.1 rise in WEI after adding effectively 2GB more RAM and recalculating sores. Is this normal? What is needed for 5.9 memory in WEI?

The rest of my system is:

    Asus P5k deluxe wifi
Q6600 with thermalright ultra 120 extreme
    2 x 150GB Raptor X (RAID 0)
    geforce 8800 GT 512MB
    4GB Corsair XMS2
    3 yate loons
    Antec 500W smart power
    Thermaltake shark case
    Razer Lycosa keyboard
    Logitech G7 mouse

    Re: WEI Memory Score

I had the same with a system I built, I guessed because it was running with stock settings. Is the system overclocked at all?

    Re: WEI Memory Score

I have 4 x 1GB GeIL sticks running 5-5-5-18 at the moment and I get a WEI of 5.9 on the memory under Vista 64-bit. My system is fairly similar to yours with a Q6600 running at stock speeds, and the same CPU heatsink. The only major difference is the motherboard. I am using an Abit IP35-Pro but I wouldn't have thought that would influence WEI much.

How many memory sticks are you using and is it running in Dual Channel mode? Also, are you running Vista 32-bit or Vista 64-bit?

If your both running your Q6600s at stock, are either of you using a memory divider other then 1:1?

    Re: WEI Memory Score

    Hey all,

I am running everything at stock, no OC (I keep meaning to but bottle it at the last minute!), except for the RAM timings and voltage which I manually set.

I have 4 sticks of 1GB ram in dual channel mode

    I am running 64bit vista

Not sure what my divider is but I don't think it's 1:1 (it wasn't on my old system and the hardware is practically the same, I just installed vista recently and added the RAID that's all so the divider should be what it used to be (although I can't remeber - must get cpu-z..)) could this be the issue?

that is the exact same RAM as me!

Pav and Andy, we have the same RAM, wonder why my score is lower?

    Re: WEI Memory Score

Maybe down to the motherboard ?

Or perhaps the BIOS revision on the motherboard ?

We all have different P35 motherboards.

    Re: WEI Memory Score

ok, got cpu-z and ran it on my home machine (I don't really want to try and download the correct bios update for my machine, I'd rather wait until my home broadband is fixed so I can use the ASUS bios update thing. I hate updating the bios - nail biting tension arrrrgh!!)

It shows my divider as 2:3 which I guess is totally wrong and should be 1:1 which means I need to crank up the FSB slightly? Hopefully this is the problem...

Pav, do you know what your divider is?

Not sure. I guess I'll need to install and run cpu-z to find out ?

I'm running an E8400 at default settings.

    Re: WEI Memory Score

yeah, if you could run cpu-z that would be awesome, it's a great litle prog you can get it here.

The memory tab will show FSB: DRAM which is the divider. Even at default settings, your divider could be different, which I'm hoping is the problem =)

Andy, if you're still reading this thread and you could run it too that would help greatly

    thanks guys

    Re: WEI Memory Score

hmmmm, ok, nothing is instantly jumping out at me here...

Will try default settings on my board and see what that does

I'm sure I'm using the EPP for my RAM so I'm surprised (although I guess 5.6 is already ok-ish) the score isn't at the top

    thanks for your help Pav
