    sn41g2 integrated geforce4mx

    ... is this a joke? this card is slower than a geforce2mx! i seem to score about 23xx on 3dmark2001se with a 1800+ @ 1.6Ghz...

whats the best driver to use with it? i'm currently using the 45.23 drivers as they are best for the geforce4 ti architecture, but i'm not sure about the 4mx...

also with rivatuner you can overclock the core and also the memory, i can understand overclocking the core, but seeing as the memory is basically a shared part of the main memory (of which i only have 256mb, which may not be useful and cause the crap performance) how can you overclock this?

You will get relative poor performance from any on-board video solution when comparing to a stand-alone videocard unfortunately. The latest Nforce drivers should help, and getting another 256Mb RAM will certainly help by enabling dual channel mode but you wont score high because of the limited memory bandwith when using a shared architecture.

My advice would be to get yourself a decent-ish AGP card and use that instead if you are looking for performance.

IMO overclocking with on-board graphics isn't worth it.

hmm, well i've got a spare geforce2mx.. i broke my old gf2 pro , and am using the other 'decent' graphics cards in the other 4 computers in my house ... we'll might whack that one in there and see what happens - at least it can be overclocked a little bit...

hah, just ran 3dmark2000.. score an arse-wopping 4k!

    turbo lame.

i think - the GF4 on board, the ram speed runs on the FSB - i.e the main RAM speed, so technically, if you overclock your FSB, you overclock your graphics card as well

so I ran a xp1700 tbred at 10X200, 2ghz, and obviously , the ram is runnin at 200ddr - so the onboard graphics were runnin at 400mhz, then some overclocking of the core with cool bits and i managed ~5000 3dmark 2001's

obviously the slightly faster cpu helped, but mainly the FSB did the good stuff

yeh, cos i'm currently running a tbred a 1800+ @ 11.5x139, which isnt much of an overclock, but its not that great a chip (only tbred a) and doesnt go too far on default volts... shame i cant reduce the multi to 8 and bring the fsb upto 200...

just put a gf2mx in there, but its being stupid and not working too good.. gonna kick it a bit and hope that sorts it out...

thing is, i've got 2 gf4ti's, 1 gf3, and 1 gf4mx440... but they're all in use, so its either the integrated crapset or the gf2mx... both are about as bad i guess

    edit:

given up on the gf2mx, kept semi-crashing windows for no reason.... on a secondary note.. i've just got 2 electric shocks off that shuttle! one from the monitor vga cable, and another one from the case... was quite funny/painful

SN41 isnt the best overclocker either - the sn45 is much better but also does'nt have integrated graphics.

What errors were you getting with the GeForce 2MX?
