    any thoughts / advice please

first off, new to the forum so hi to everyone

about to upgrade my old system, on the cheap hopefully
    just got a e4300 off the bay + 2x 1gb crucial ballistix ddr2 667
i reckon i can salvage from my old machine
    lian li pc7+
    samsung spinpoint sata hard drive
    gigabyte 6600gt pcie
thinking of xigmatek hdt-s1283 cooler & msi neo2-fr mobo
not sure about the mobo tho, also wondering if the ram and cooler
    are compatible with it ?
looking for a decent overclock & if anbody has any advice or better suggestions
    i'd like to hear them
know it's not gonna be the fastest thing but i's hoping for an improvement on
the current athlon 3500 single core & 768mb ddr1 ram
    cheers
    jason

Re: any thoughts / advice please

It's a very good cooler actually, and very quiet too

I'm not a big fan of MSI motherboards but it certain does look good for the money. I'd stick to abit or asus P35 boards, they cost a little more but I think they make up for it with quality and abit with good service.

It doesn't look quite as good but it's a solid board
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

The RAM should be fine with either board as should the cooler. I've seen the xigmatec cooler and that ram in the abit though so it deffinatly works with it

ok thanks very much for the reply dude
i shall certainly consider the abit
in fact it's now no1 on the list after you have
confirmed my ram is ok with it
just one concern tho, i have read somewhere about
abit only using solid caps around the processor socket
and cheap ones everywhere else. is this an issue ?
    cheers

I don't think it is unless you plan on crazy overclocks. All my old boards with standard caps are still working and a lot of people on hexus are using this board to great effect overclocking or not but if you can pull the trigger before 12pm tomorrow.
go here Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

in the super savers at the top is the IP-35 pro for £78 which is a bloomin steal! solid caps everywhere, angles SATA ports, better chipset cooling (for BIG overclocks) and other nice little touches Great board stupid price GET IT!!
