Re: Graphics Card Thoughts
I've just bought a BFG 8800GTS OC and having researched think it is the card to go for between the two. You won't be disappointed with the GTS and it offers better performance, better value and lower power consumption than a 9800GTX. A GT would be fine for 22" but would feel the strain with newer games.

Re: Graphics Card Thoughts
Well, I can tell you that I have the same monitor and the 8800GTS 512 OC by ASUS and it looks great, Crysis on full everything...(apart from last level)
A friend on mine with the same monitor and the 8800GT can't play full res with his 8800 GT (can't remember brand).
But i'm sure if you google 8800GT versus 8800GTS you'll get the techy stuff and numbers.
Re: Graphics Card Thoughts
I would shoot for the GTS. Generally better stock cooling and higher default voltage give it a noticeable edge when overclocking. Stock performance is also on par with the price increase.
The GTS is not overkill for 1680x1050. In fact I'm quite GPU limited at such resolutions.
Re: Graphics Card Thoughts
I run a BFG 8800GTS 512mb 22" and everything i run (BF2/Oblivion/Stalker/UT3) is at max eye candy and looks fantastic)

I have a samsung SM226BW 22" montitor which has a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 i think. Does this make it pointless to get the 8800GTS?
Nope, both are quite suitable for that resolution. It's just a question of your budget in which you should choose out of the two.
Re: Graphics Card Thoughts
