Build for my sister

Wanted a cheap build for a PC for my sister... am I missing anything obvious or what?

Look's to be ok. In a similar thread yesterday (here) this case/PSU combo was recommended by staffsMike and would be suitable for your build too. It'll save you a bit of money and is a decent product.

As also mentioned in that thread you might want to consider a different hard drive, try something by western digital or seagate, better performing and better quality generally.

Edit: Make sure you have a valid OS too

Lol, sorry about that! I didn't mean to take credit for your advice. I just remembered the thread yesterday and this is a fairly similar spec build so the case is suitable here too. It was a good spot that I missed originally.

What kind of things she wants to do with it? You might want to consider to add some cheap graphic card. imo those onboards suck pretty hard, even for random internet browsing or movies or what so ever ;d
But ah well, if she only needs it to chat and do some school work the onboard will be ok I guess ;p

The 690G is awesome for movies. Not tried blu ray yet but with a 5000+ to lean on (like mine has ) i'm sure it will do it just fine.

Handles everything I've used it for no problem including movies and browsing. Great colour settings too

I agree that the 690G/690V chipsets are quite decent for media playback.However Ebuyer and Scan have 780G chipset motherboards for around £45. The 780G basically has an HD3450 card as the IGP.OcUK sell a 780G with 128mb of DDR2 RAM onboard which costs around £55. Of course a discrete HD3450 is faster but the 780G will handle HD stuff well!

Very true but given the seemingly very tight budget and the apparent requirements of the user judging by the spec the 690G will be very good. It also uses a bit less power so a few pennies off you power bill lol

If you do go 780G i'd go for the Abit at about £45. Good board but unless she's planning on some form of gaming then you might as well save the £10.

the only gaming she'll do is the sims maybe.

I think it'll be fine for everything else.
