New Build - Yet CPUZ stats confusing
Hi,
I have a new build PC with the following components
Asus P5K Premium Motherboard
Intel E8400 3GHz CPU
Corsair 2GB PC2 6400 (800MHz) 4-4-4-12 RAM
I am puzzled by the following CPU-Z stats...
Under the CPU tab, the Core Speed is listed as 2003.8 MHz
Under the memory tab,
the DRAM frequency is 400MHz.
the CAS Latency is 5
the RAS to CAS Delay is 5
the RAS Precharge is 5
the tRAS is 18
Any ideas why these do not match the hardware installed ?
Thanks,
Pav
Re: New Build - Yet CPUZ stats confusing
Is the CPU running speed step/cool and quiet/whatever they call it now? This lowers the speed and voltage to save power when the PC is not doing anything intensive.
For the ram 400mhz at double data rate is 800mhz... and the latencies have to be manually set in the bios
Re: New Build - Yet CPUZ stats confusing
If you want the full speed you need to disable the C1E and EIST, mine Q6600 was running at 1600mhz and 6x multiplier with those on, switched them off and running at right speed with only 1-2 degrees temp increase.
CAS you need to set yourself
Re: New Build - Yet CPUZ stats confusing
I'm not sure regarding how I can tell if the CPU is running in step/cool mode.
I'll have a look in the BIOS regarding the RAM settings.

Run a CPU intensive program and it should automatically increase the CPU speed to the normal, it only runs at a lower speed when it's not under load.

Pav, the memory tab is correct, as your memory is at default settings the timings are what your mobo has decided it should use.
Your memory says 4-4-4-12 but it is not automatcially set to these timings, these are just the extended performance profile (EPP) that the RAM has built in, but you will need to configure your BIOS to use the EPP
