    xps m1530 - geforce 8600m ddr3?

Hi just ordered one these, got a real good price - upgraded the basic system and got it lower an the original starting prices all about dell and giving them a hard sale...

anyways this post is about the GPU inside..

i was speaking to a friend of mine who used to have the desktop version of the 8600, i was asking what games i'll be able to run with the mobile version, he seems to think i wont be able to get shader 2.0? is that true.. i mean i know i'll run CSS easy but i prob wont even bother with crysis till i get my self a desktop rig...

all i know is that the 8600m which im getting is a DDR 3 version does any 1 have anymore information on what capabilities of this mobile gpu?

The 8600gt mobile is an *ok* gpu for a laptop it would be more that fine for css although you may be pushing it a bit with crysis. it's not a bad gpu thought by any means

i have that laptop, plays css on pretty much perfect high settings... on 1440 900

very capable imo and to be honest anything more is just so much more expensive so its worth just lowering the game settings for a couple hundred extra for a better laptop!

    Re: xps m1530 - geforce 8600m ddr3?

It plays crysis fine.. I mean it's not going to do high or very high detail but it'll give decent enough frame rates to play it looking quite nice.

They are very good cards, the DDR2 version is capable enough of playing any current game I've seen so the DDR3 should be even better.

dont seem to be many other rivals in its price range, with all the features and looks!
ive ordered the upgrade screen 1440 x 900!
so what other games have you tested on it jackvdbuk?

i didnt buy it for the purpose of gaming but it would be nice to bring it round a mates, connect it to the network and have a bash.

Well I know the DDR2 version plays Crysis. It also plays COD4 at that res, and Dirt Seen on a vostro 1500.
