    speaker for xbox 360

Hope this is the right section!

Getting an xbox 360 in the next few days, and i'm looking for a stereo for it. Found this Mikomi 5.1 Home Theatre Speaker Package Buy Mikomi 5.1 Home Theatre Speaker Package. at Argos.co.uk
But not sure if i can connect the 360 to is plus all its little speaker. Don't really want to go over £30 might go to £40. Can anyone suggest something that i connect a 360 to, and possible has 5.1 sound. I'm in the UK so will only be buying form UK sites such as Amazon.co.uk and play.com.

    cheers

    Re: speaker for xbox 360

If your gonna go for 5.1 on a xbox then you will need to connect via optical, so you will need a sound system that can accept optical input..and the speakers that you linked dont really give any info on connectivity.

Is £40 your MAX budget?? Might need to spend a bit more mate

I used the Creative Inspire GD580 5.1 Speakers, they have optical in, DTS / DD Decoding in 5.1 and upmixing to 5.1 for none 5.1 sources.

I can recomment them but they will be much more than £40 if you can even get them anymore.

    Re: speaker for xbox 360

Not to sure if that system can be directly connected to the 360 as the connections on those assume that your gonna hook it up to a PC.

But again, if you want dolby digital 5.1 then your gonna have to get speakers with optical input otherwise you wont get 5.1.

    Whats your max budget?

    Re: speaker for xbox 360

I'm not concerned about the 5.1 sounds really. Some 2.1 will do fine! Got a budget up to £50. These will only be used for the 360.

    Cheers

    Re: speaker for xbox 360

Look up specific 2.1 systems, if you look up Micro systems like that then the sound will be even worse as you're paying largely for the system rather than the speakers it comes with. It really shouldn't be too hard to find a speaker system that is 2/2.1 and accept optical input (but for £50 you're not going to get good sound quality, a micro system would be even worse...). Optical isn't often found on very low end things though so this may be more of a challenge than I first thought (as it needs to be something with a decoder rather than just a plain pair of speakers...).

Here's a thought, buy some £50 speakers and plug them into your TV rather than the XBox, that way the TV is decoding (keep in mind this will only work for 2 channel).

I doubt you'll be able to find better quality speakers for <£50, than Creative T20's

as alot of people have said, speakers are one thing that shouldnt be skimped on, if you skimp you usually get noticable sound degredation etc, you TBH you get what you pay for but for <£50 those creative ones are good
