I'm not sure I'll ever go back to a full size board, there isnt any need for me. Have a uATX case (Silverstone TJ08B) is so much more practical. It fits under any desk, its smaller, sleeker and lighter. All graphics cards fit in the case, its got 2x 120mm fans too.
uATX boards have come a long, long way of the last few years. They now pack in top features and good overclocking.
uATX is the future...I've tasted it.
Nah, full tower is where its at
Unless you're water cooled or have hands the size of spades, then there is no reason at all for a full ATX tower in my mind. For me it offers no benefits, but takes up more room and generally costs more. I can fit all my drives, any hsf, full size PSU and vga card and dont compromise on case cooling. I really cant see me going back.
I think in general peoples perception is that uATX boards are low end chipsets and poor overclockers, but that simply isnt true anymore. Top end case manufaturers are now really supporting uATX, probably helped along by the ever growing HTPC market driving uATX sales.
The range of boards and cases is now very good. Sure, onboard vga is pants for gaming, but just drop in a PCI-E card and the onboard will automatically be disabled

I might agree that they are poor overclockers in comparison to full ATX in most cases, but full ATX motherboards go so far beyond what most of us will ever need/use that mATX boards are plenty good enough for "Joe Builds his own".
