Re: Zak breaks a nervous sweat
lol @ self inflicted problems...
My windows has been crashing too recently. But only when I am watching video, it works for about 10 mins then windows artefacts and crashes... I have installed new ram recently and I have been messing around with video filters to try and get hd dvd working in media player classic (without success). I don't think its the ram, as just done 5 hours of orthos blend and 2 hours of memtest (at stock). So I think I have screwed up some windows files for playing video... :(
re-install time for me after exams :)

Re: Zak breaks a nervous sweat
Check you hard drive too sim, i had similar problems and it was the hd at fault. Playing videos does require a fair amount of hd use. I thought it was my windows installation that was at fault too then the hd completely died.
Re: Zak breaks a nervous sweat
LMAO
I remember flashing my BIOS and waiting only for the monitor to go off and then nothing...
My foot had only caught the wire under the desk and pull it out of the TFT slightly.
That was a 20p-50p moment if ever I've had one :)

Thanks, I don't want to hijack this thread, so I will make a new thread for this. I will test videos from other hard drives:)
Edit: I think you are right mate, been playing for video non-stop for 30 minutes without it happening :(
Re: Zak breaks a nervous sweat
You should have reported it to IT department, that seems to be the way in the last 3 days at my current job :P

Re: Zak breaks a nervous sweat
Had the same monitor cable coming loose problem yesterday; luckily on seeing nothing on screen it was by some unknown reason the first thing I checked. I usually thikn of the worst scenario and work around that.

Re: Zak breaks a nervous sweat
i spent £400 on a TFT once, to replace a failed CRT
only when the order was already placed did i notice the brightness knob was turned all the way down
Re: Zak breaks a nervous sweat
Once went to a users PC where the screen was blank.
PC was on, monitor was plugged in.
Only when I checked the monitor connection did I realised they'd pulled the gfx card out its slot! :O_o1:
Some muppet had nicked the screw holding it in :angst:
