    Ohhh, so the OS can be installed on the array... its just the \boot that cannot be on the array... I don't really know much about Linux, as you can see...

    /boot contains the kernel images, not the whole system. even then, it's not the ENTIRE kernel images, just the bits needed in order to boot (e.g. disk controllers yes, sound cards no). for example, with 2 kernels installed,
    directhex@mortos:~$ du -hs /boot/
    41M /boot/

    Exactly, all the userspace bits that make the kernel tick can be in RAID, just kernel/initrd needs a simple /boot partition

    Heh, I was even more clueless 6 or 7 years ago when I got started.

    When you get everything built. Start another thread on the OS forum and hex, peterb and I can help you out with installation (raid installs are a bit trickier than normal installs, as you may have guessed)
