i'm having a asus p5b premium vista edition. running quad core 2.4ghz. 4 gb ram. but somehow i think it unstable and slow when i check stuff around my computer. i do defrag and disk clean all of that stuff but still slow. i have 160 to spend. what should i upgrade to make it faster?

What's that PSU? Is it a Tagan ITZ or something different?
You have 4 sticks of RAM. Are they getting the correct voltage and have you upped the NB volts a notch?

It depends on the BIOS settings. Do you have a setting for MCH voltage? Otherwise you hopefully have one that says Northbridge.
As for the RAM, I see you have 3Gb. That sounds like you have two different types of RAM, 2 x 1Gb and 2 x 512Mb. Most boards default to 1.8v for RAM. Many sticks require more than this. You will need to look at the specs that came with the RAM to see what yours is. Hopefully both sets are the same.
A quick way to see if this is the issue is to take out two of the sticks and see how it runds with 2Gb.

The HD3870 is better for the higher resolutions and the IceQ Turbo is pre-overclocked and runs cooler than reference cards.
If you prefer nVidia; BFG 9600GT
Also you should probably get a 64bit OS so that you can use all of your 4Gb of memory. Vista Home Premium 64Bit is only £70.
Think those options would be your best bet for a faster PC... your CPU and memory are fine so its only your GFX that's holding you back.
i have vista ultimate 64 op. and for the graphic i just upgrade to ddr3 two day ago. so there nothing much i can do huh?
Still try taking 2 sticks out and run it with 2Gb. If that solves the problem then your NB volts need upping a notch or 2 when you put them back in.
But first make sure you're giving them the right voltage.
I have a P5B deluxe and it is very unstable with 4 sticks of RAM, regardless of NB voltage, think it's a chipset problem, have read similar around the web....
Ouch. Well you could sell the 4x1Gb and get 2x2Gb then.
A real monitor and a PSU that wont turn the silicon bits into liquid jelly. HDTV's are lousy at interactivity.
I'd have to politely and respectfully (and nicely) disagree - the actual size of the screen is irrelevant, it's the resolution that counts.
Chances are (i'm guessing) it's running at 1366 x 768 (or similar), which for 2d work in windows or even lighter, older (2005) games a 7300GT should be fine.
As for the RAM, i'm inclined to believe that it's because you have all 4 of your physical slots filled that can cause a problem ... in theory it really shouldnt but these things are known. Changing your operating system will not change this. It is possible however that upgrading your motherboard BIOS by flashing it with a newer version (if one exists) could help. You might be lucky, might not. As an interim, take 2 sticks out and see (ok, it might be slower with half the memory, but slower and stable is better than the alternative).

A 40" screen is basically going to be a TV right? What sort of refresh rate would this have?
