Network storage

Hey, I'm looking for a network storage enclosure, I have the HDD's but need to get a cheap and cheerful (100 quid or less) enclosure for them but not sure which one to buy, to add to the problem the descriptions on most websites aren't clear how many HDD's they can hold. Any suggestions on which one to buy would be appreciated or an alternative solution to having a server box.

I think Netgear do one at that price point that holds two drives, but I suspect you're going to struggle to get anything more than a two drive enclosure at that price.

Takes two IDE drives but I'm sure there are SATA ones out there if speed is what you require .

you could try thtowing them in an old p.c. and making a nas out of them. you can pick up a old p4 on the cheap and they make nice nas boxes

I'm trying to avoid having a NAS server box from an old PC. I'm actually getting rid of an old AMD3000 box which the drives currently sit in, its old, grey, noisy, large and consumes more power than a NAS, which is why I want one.

2 SATA drives is what I need to fit in. I'll check out that netgear one, I read a review of another netgear enclosure and the reviews weren't too good.

D-Link's DNS-323 is another option.
They also have a wireless (G) version which is available for <£100 - the DSM-G600

There certainly are other two-drive boxes, but the ones I've seen are already loaded with drives and well above your budget. I can't help any more, but I'd be surprised if there weren't other options than the Netgear. What about people like Buffalo? They seem to get good reviews.

Don't know about the performance, but this comes in a little under your budget, comes with 2 sata bays, and has 2 usb ports for adding a few more externally.
