Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game?

Yep, if you're running a game/application that can use every bit of power you have then you're doing the same as a stress testing benchmark - applying a full load - so you'll see high temps.

i see... currently my temp is 43-48C on idle... i am pretty happy about it but still not sure if it is on the "safe bracket" because whenever i run orthos (2x to fully stressed out all the 4 cores) it climbed up to 68C! how is that? a very big jump?

Re: need help... still reaching 60-67 degrees temp!

Well stock coolers are built to cool within the thermal limitations, which are actually quite high for most things. Intel list the spec for the G0 Q6600 as having an operating temperature (at least, I assume that's what 'thermal specification' means...) as 71C, so you're within the normal range. Graphics cards can get even hotter, my old X800XT used to run at 80C without issues, some get even hotter.

So nothing out of the ordinary. If you want to lower the temps/noise then you can get a better cooler, tho since I don't have a Q6600 I can't reccomend one.

i agree, my 8800GT gets hotter than my cpu and it is too noisy... but the noise didn't bother me cause i am playing with speakers on high volume! lol thanks for the response.

8800gt are known to get a bit hot, I've seen some reach 90 but still cause no problems.

The link does not work, what was the score?

For your system I am guessing about 13000 to 14000.

Re: need help... still reaching 60-67 degrees temp!

    Hi kietsmark1975,

Read through your thread..... as you have seen I posted about high temps on my Q6600 GO, so very interested.

My temps are still higher than I want, but I have managed to stop the "freezes" while running Orthos by removing my Anti Virus software (Avast) and not running my Mothernboard Software Tool (uGuru).

I was assuming that the high temps were causing the freezes, got a lot of help from the guys here.

Looks like the problem was that some software was causing issues when my system was at high load. (I am still trying to get temps down, but I am a bit happier now).

Reason I thought you might find that info useful is that Crysis is quite demanding, though not like stress test - could be worth you doing something similar.....might be worth reinstalling Crysis (after uninstalling correctly, uninstalling your gfx drivers (properly) and re-installing the latest gfx drivers cleanly. Then close all other applications, even AV software if you are not connected to the internet and re-run crysis again. If you still have a problem try turning AA and AF off - see if that helps.

At least by this process of elimination you can find out if other applications are having any affect.

I would be interested in the ORB comparison for 3dMark06 as we have similar(ish) rigs, but I cant get it to run in Vista64, so I only have a score for 3Dmark05.

Thanks for the tips i guess process of elimination is the best way to go... you mentioned properly uninstall and uninstall correctly... is there any better way uninstalling a program than going to the control panel add/remove programs? then manually delete the folder on drive c: program files just in case there are leftovers?

i posted here the link about the results of the test i've done in 3dmark06... please feel free to browse it. since we almost have a similar rig i am very much interested also viewing your results.

With graphics drivers - many people simply run the nvidia .exe whilst current drivers are installed. What I do is uninstall current drivers and reboot to safe mode and install the new drivers from there. If you can't install from Safe Mode, do the same but from a standard boot, as the old drivers are no longer onstalled anyway.

I think there are actually applications that will do this better, but I find this works well for me.

As for uninstalling apps, again you can get third party apps. Some programs don't have great uninstallers and can leave registry and other entries around the place. You should be ok uninstalling from the games uninstaller.....as long as you don't just delete the program folder.

Will check your score as soon as I get 3dmark06 to run.
