So they won't want to change the os around this - they've probably only planned for the 32 bit version.
EDIT: there could be a way to upgrade from a 32 bit system to 64? anybody know?
Yeah, is upgrading to a 64bit ultimate vista from a 32bit home premium okay/straight forward?

I think you would have to do a complete uninstall first and then install the new 64 bit vista on a fresh hd.

Do you mean formatting the drive then installing the 64 bit?
Sorry for so many questions, but what are the crucial differences between the 32 and 64 bit Vistas? Would it be better off at the moment sticking with 32 bit Vista and 4gig of ram detected? (It's sweet spot, so I heard).

The only difference (that I know) is that the 32 bit detects only 3.5GB of RAM, but most people only use around 2GB anyway.
I'm sure you could email them and ask them to install a 64 bit instead. they'll probably charge you extra though...

Yep,
I have heard that 64bit windows vista has less driver support for it, but I don't know if that's true now.

Okay cool thanks for the replies guys, I think it's settled then. I could always upgrade to 64bit in the future, if needed.
