As a side note, I can confirm the 8800GT isn't that bad with power demands - we're now running it fine on an Aspire SFF 420W PSU - has something like 14 and 16A rails.

I use that Coolermaster setup for a huge majority of my builds and although the PSU isnt a world beater, its pretty good for a budget system and in 30+ builds, i havent had a failure yet.
Its cracking value and the case is actually very nice aswell.
Also, if building a mATX set up, they do a mATX combo aswell which is very nice also.
2 weeks back i built a Dual Core system for under £240 using that case for it.

A maximum of 6.25a per +12v rail is all that's needed, any half decent PSU can provide that.

No I wouldn't - I run linux as well and it's still really bad for modern games. The small price to pay for XP is worth it.
There's native ports for over 40 commercial titles, and a crapload more works under wine. IMO it's rather impressive given the general attitude towards the platform, baring id and epic, few bother with it at all.

I haven't looked into that lately, last I saw they had a beta port of the server before the release, with the intention of releasing the full engine after release over the intardwebs.
