I didn't want to say it, but I was thinking pretty much the same as aidanjt - this is why they're so cheap, they can't handle heavy load very well.
well just installed crysis and it appears to be coming from my graphics card, so i guess my psu is fine :P. Why does the card do that?
Ghosts? :P
its what is known as coil whine, it occurs when more power is being passed through the coils on the card (which i think causes the coils the reverberate at a high frequency which is the whine that you hear). and higher power transfer happen at higher stress levels i.e. when benchmarking or being pushed in games, therefore the whine will be more noticable in these circumstances. it's usually not too noticable because the noise of the pc/gfx fan tends to cover it up, but it is more noticable in some of the recent-ish nVidia cards. it also happens on motherboards aswell.
You card is possessed, call an exorcist. :P
On a more serious note, TAKTAK's explanation seems plausible, so I would say don't worry as I am assuming your BFG card is under warranty.
yes it is underwarranty but i think i got 2years instead of 10 >.<, signed up and registered my card etc but im ment to send a copy of something in email (proof of purchase?) but never got the email on what todo, better hope for 10years :P.
oh and thats not a definate 'it's coil whine' but i think that is the most likely scenario, but i can't think of a way to reduce it, people have been known to cap the coils but i'm not sure if it has much effect. but practically everything that has coils is prone to it, hence why TVs and things sometimes screach at you :(
theres a piccy of a guy HERE that is trying to reduce coil whine (quite a few mobos/gfx cards/other things actually have the silicon (im guessing that its silicon) already on to stop it, but sometimes they don't.)
also check to make sure that the fan is not scraping along the casing as this could emitt an audible humm (wouldn't really be a squeal though).
so if it's not coil whine thats causing the sound then i'm stumped :(
and as for the warranty thing, quite alot of people never got an email, but i think that your still covered for 10 years (don't quote me on that though)
My PC screams when intensive graphics come on, had it for around a year now and no problems. I don't know what's screaming, but I've not had any problems.
Luckily, it's hardly noticeable even with the room quiet.
