LOL... are you sure you two are not psychicly connected...
Will give that review a read
Sorry, just checked out your 'My system'. I hope you got your PNY from Play using quidco like I did a couple of months ago.
In that case, I think you've selected the right components. I would look for a bundle as you may be able to get similar components cheaper. The CPU choice depends on what you use your PC for and if you will use it after your future upgrade. I would get the the Q6600 and overclock it if it is within your budget as the quad core will be more versatile, especially if you plan on using this PC in the future. I don't think it is worth getting the E2220 as the performance increase over a 4400X2 would be fairly limited and you will also be upgrading the mobo.
Looking at your current spec you would be better off delaying an upgrade until Nehalem comes out in Q3/Q4 or getting a high end PC now and upgrading in 2 years or however long your upgrade cycle is.
If general performance is slow, try re-installing windows, defragging the hard disk and any number of other methods for improving windows performance.
Assuming your Nehalem PC will be high spec, you could try buying a Velociraptor hard drive. This would provide a noticable improvement in performance and can be used in a future PC. The raptors also hold their value fairly well in comparison to other IT products as they are fairly unique and are not updated as often as other components.
If it's gaming performance you're after, wait until the new graphics cards from Nvidia and ATI are released in June. Then either get a cheaper 9800 GTX and run in SLI or sell your existing card and upgrade to one of the newer generation cards.
Either option will provide a noticable improvement for £150-£200 and can be transferred to your Nehalem build. IMO this is better than spending £150 on CPU, memory and mobo and having 2 redundant PCs after 6 months.
Of course SLI may require a better PSU but if it's performance you're after...

moogle (01-06-2008)
Well in the end I decided to order the Antec 1200... I want a really big case this time!
If things go wrong I blame moogle
EDIT: its quite funny looking at my pc spec now...
Antec 1200
9800GTX
2.5TB Hard drive
Enermax Modular PSU (well I haven't orderd this yet, but i suspect my current psu won't have long enough cables)
then there is
crap cpu, crap ram, crap mobo
Usually its the other way around

why dont you look at some lian li cases. they are brilliant and if you want a huge case get a pc a70 case. a bit expensive but you can use that case for nehalem as it provides better cooling then the antec ones
If I went the C2D route I would have to buy a new OS too... forgot to price that in... but I can get that cheap while I am technically still a student... hmmm
