Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
I was gonna point that out :)
Maybe Scan have a bad batch and you shouldn't feel sorry. You would be the one ending up with a crud one out of the bunch. I doubt you'd get one from eBuyer like that :) I got mine from them although long ago it's working fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
Its £10 more from ebuyer though... I would rather get one second hand tbh, at least that way you know how much it clocks.... Moogle, don't you need a Q9450 to test out your new water cooling? :naughty:

I was thinking that since my dad's going to the states :naughty:
*checks current exchange rate*
Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
well IMO, go for either OcUK or ebuyer then. i have had perfect RMA's and phonecalls and customer services and emails from them :)
Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
Well its either scan or ebuyer... Don't usually order from elsewhere... Will have to think about if its worth the risk in ordering from scan to save £10... I think it might be as there is only one isolated case... no one else has complained about having a similar problem...

Well if you are going to do that, then I might be interested in your Q6600 if you decide to sell it (let me know asap!)... although I am itching to get the PC up and running this week :)
Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
Surely you could just buy it from scan and if it sucks send it back under DSR? Bit dishonest I guess but treat the box nicely and clean it up etc..if it does have to go back.
Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
dont forget if you're getting it from scan add the normal q6600 as the today only one is a bit more :)

That's not dishonest IMO... I want one with a proper thermal sensor on the chip! Its a pity I would have to use the DSR if it comes with a faulty thermal sensor.... but I think that this is the best idea. I would have to pay shipping back to scan, but that is probably going to be less than £10 anyway...
Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
I should think it would be less than £10 yeah and chances are it will be a goodun anyway, havn't heard of many duff ones.
Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
Will order tomorrow from scan then. Thanks guys :)
The drama will finally be over :P
Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
can't wait :D
now you'll have something to take pictures of in your antec 1200 :heckle:
Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
Well I can put some pictures of naked ladies in my antec 1200 now and then take photos of that. That would be l33t.
Now I just need some new hard drives... well I'm not sure actually, was thinking of getting 3x320gb single platter WDs in raid 5, but I already have 1x160gb wd, 1x250gb wd, 2x320gb seagate 7200.10, 500GB wd aaks and a 1TB seagate. I will also be buying 2 or 3 more 1TB for the NAS. Then I will combine all these hard drives on to that and sell the old ones.
Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
Just a small collection then :p
The single platters would make a nice Raid setup though :)
Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
I am not sure whether to save that until nehalem. I have mirror the two 7200.10s and will still have enough space for everything once I have the NAS sorted... Speedwise, the aaks is probably the fastest, so I can make that the OS drive... then I can sell the rest. That would save me a bit.
How much do you think I can get for these drives:
1x160gb wd, 1x250gb wd, 2x320gb seagate 7200.10, 500GB wd aaks?
I reckon £10, £20, £30, £40 respectively. Total £130 minus about £15 on postage. So £115. The WD3200AAKS cost £45 from scan, so it would cost me £135 in total. So this upgrade is estimated to cost only £20... That's ok I suppose.
Re: Cheap PC until Nehalem
£10 for 160?, thats 80gb prices isn't it. Depends if they are sata or not.
