Abit more help please >_< abit ip35 pro ide1 problem

    Hey,

    how you lot doing?

thanks for the help regarding chosing my pc etc, it was so helpful, and i now have my pc.

me and my bro put it together tonight.....to find the ide1 port (the only port) for my dvd drive is like, blocked by the cmos battery =.=

    surely this is a silly design fauilt? to see what i mean;

    http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/477

enlarge that first pic...like at the bottom kinda adjacent the bottom ram slot you see the battery infront of the left ide port, so i cant connect there =X

i know you can get sata dvd drives, but mine isn't, so i guess that means i have to buy a new sata drive in order to use it? (pc is rendered useless atm because cant load vista so no o/s)

    Thanks

not sure what you mean about the port being blocked.. its side mounting - as in (using the same picture) you insert the IDE cable from the bottom of the motherboard.

quick drawing in paint to help illustrate which direction the IDE mounts from.. the cable only goes in 1 way around.

Yeah stevie's right. I think you are trying to connect it to the wrong side. Everyone can make silly mistakes though don't worry

    oh gosh >_<

lol thanks, you lot saved me some more moneys again....

i think my last question for now....my case is a coolermaster cm 690......it comes with 3 fans...one front led, one back at top, one side on case....my psu is corsair 650w, and i tried the fan leads from that with other fans and they fit perfectly...but they dont fit with the fan ends of the coolermaster ones (they are only just slightly off, i aint using the wrong connecter...)

anyone else had this problem? or what is going wrong ;s

Any chance of a picture of what you're seeing?

Some fans will want motherboard headers (small connector) some will want a big one called "molex.

Highlight on this pic if you like

from what I can see, it wants a small connector which won't coem directly from the PSU. You will either need an adapter which you can see in the pic, or plug it into one of the fan headers (3 pins) on the motherboard.

molex ^^ will only connect one way around (note the two rounded corners)

    ^^ 3 pin fan (smaller)

    which is it?

Re: Abit more help please >_< abit ip35 pro ide1 problem

well it has both ends...a 3 pin then a 3pin with extra end to a 4 pin 'molex' thingy.

but since it doesnt want to fit i'll connect to the mobo since a friend has told me i can do that =)

    ( ididn't know).

    so yteah, it's got a 3 pin + molex

Molex connectors can just be stiff. But plugging them into the mobo gives you a better level of control over them as the BIOS can control them. Straight into the PSU means they will run full power regardless.
