    MB still in box old Bios

    Hi
    P5B Deluxe wifi. Bios Rev 1.10 still in Box!
    I would like to buy E6750 0r 6600 CPU.
    Will the computer boot up with the old Bios.
    The MB p5B sat in the wardrobe from Jun 07.

    Im not stupid just a slow pc builder!!!

    You can check on the asus website:

    It seems the e6600 should boot up but the e6750 will need a bios flash. If you can get hold of an older cpu you can flash the bios and then fit ur new chip. If your lucky u might be able to take it to a computer store and they might be able to do it for u.

    I bought a P5B just at the time the E6x20 series came along, got an E6320, worked a treat, no reason why it shouldn't have either.

    It says that the 6420 and 6320 work with bios 1101 (think the one on the board) but the 6750 works with 1215 so might not work.

    Chances are it'll work even if it's not explicated listed as supported. If it doesn't work you can always get a ridiculously cheap celly for a bios update.

    There is a local pc repair shop good idea. But I’ll buy e6750 try it.
    If no good, buy cheap cpu flash the bios. This way I will learn more.
    Let u know how i get on. Mb bios is 1101.

    It's likely that a celeron will cost you *less* than asking a pc repair shop to do it for you, and you'll have a spare chip in case the worst happens. So it would be a win/win for me.
