    750/1TB HD recommendations

    Hi,

It's time to upgrade the HD in mu kurobox pro (linkstation thingy), so I'm going to install either a 750gb or 1tb sata hd.

The question is, which to use, as my requirements are totally different to most PC builders.

Basically the drive can be slow, have the longest seek time and I wouldn't care, BUT it needs to be quiet, cool and energy efficient. Price is also irrelevant.

Does anyone have any data/recommendations on this? Personal anecdotals welcomed too

I doubt you'll get many arguments, that the Samsung Spinpoint F1 is the quietest of the new breed/32MB cache models

WD AAKS/green series or Samsung F! drives are the best around at the moment.

I bought a 750Gb Samsing F1 a couple of months ago and its extremely quiet.

The number of Samsung drive problems I've heard about makes me want to steer well clear of them personally.

Me to but the SPCR review was very good. That said when it comes to hard drives I'll take peace of mind over peformance and noise which means western digital for me

If it's just an OS and apps drive I don't really care but then who needs 750GB+ for an OS/apps drive lol

I'd still recommend them to other people as long as they know that there have been a few recent faliures, but this could just be down to them out selling western digital and others by some large margin so there are more that can fail , I really don't know.
