    Question fan controllers?

any1 made their own before? dont really want to fork out something like £20-£30 just to turn some fans down, saw hardly any guides online but they were only switch ones so 12V down to 9V etc. I need one just to turn the fan speed down so any ideas what id need?xD

If this cant be done, any recommendations for a cheap fan controller that is in black and can control 4+ fans?

    Thanks.

Oclocker may be able to advise as he used to make and sell the fan controllers.

When you say cheap, how cheap?

    Re: fan controllers?

well you can make one using a few pointiometers...(variable resistors) and then mount them in a spare blanking plate...

is that the sort of thing that you mean

    Re: fan controllers?

cheap for me is like £10 as its only to control fan speed .
I guess using a variable resistor could work but never managed to find a good enough switch or dial for using it hence why i failed xD.

    Re: fan controllers?

Dunno about price. I bought one in the US for $15 that can connect 4 fans. It works, it's Black, it sits in a 5" bay, and it has 4 lights that change from Red to Blue as you turn the speed up...

Maybe you can find it in the UK: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811998808

    Re: fan controllers?

yeah seems pretty accurate. No different on full than when plugged into the mobo and goes so low that the akasa fan it's being used with stalls.. so a good range I'd say

    Re: fan controllers?

just a few more quesrtions xD, it does support 2 fans right? and does it use a molex connector or connect to say the motherboard? and the final one, how big is the box? similar to say a cold cathode box?

    thanks again mike.

edit: just seen a cheap fan controller at ebuyer, is it to good to be true? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/136404 never heard of hiyatek but surely cheap makes cant be to bad for something like this?

    Re: fan controllers?

Ebuyer one sounds good No idea who it is either but it shouldn't matter for something like this.

The zalamn is one fan at a time (uness you use a splitter I guess) and it's 3 pin fan connectors only (as standard).

The box is about 2x AA batteries next to each other but a bit deeper.

    Re: fan controllers?

Got one of these a few days ago and it works fine (it says it has an alarm, but I don't think it does).
The screws they give you are tiny and it's a bit flimsy, but it was £4.50 delivered

I got silver though (not sure if you can request a certain colour).
