    Your eyes

    I quite like notebookreviews.. reviews.
    Dell Vostro 1510 Review

They use a few benchmarking things which are quite good for comparison.

    Re: Benchmarking

Yeah as good as any I think.

There are loads of others though, look at the hexus reviews and techpowerup, they are usually very indepth using all sorts of programs.

Never got into it myself, it's either good enough or it's not lol

    Re: Benchmarking

3DMark is probably the best all round benchmark, but all it really tells you is how good your PC is at 3Dmark...

The only true test of a PCs abilities is to test it doing what you are going to be using it for... Which sounds like tautology, but is a valid point.

If you'd like a number which sums up your PC's ability then 3DMark will probably fit the bill, though it cannot be related to your PC's ability to run any program/game you may wish to use...

    Re: Benchmarking

If people ask for a score generally 3dmark is the e-peen guide for geeks.

Exactly. I doubt if they're asking what your Vista score is.

    It's a ruler to measure your e-peen

Si-Soft Sandra is a good one. Takes long though and I always get impatient and crash it.
