Power cutting out on graphics card

I've got an ATI X800 which keeps losing the power to it's fan.

When I start the PC it will run fine; the fan over the heat sink spins and the LED shines. Then I'll start a game and after a time the fan and LED stop working, the graphics card overheats and the game crashes. Very annoying as you can imagine.

Unfortunately the card is out of it's warranty period from Scan. But is there anything I can do to fix this? Apart from that it's still a good GPU and would be a shame to chuck it.

You could do what this guy does in his vid.

    YouTube - X800 Fan Fix

Or you could try finding a replacement fan.

I'll have a look and post back if I find anything...

EDIT: OR alternatively, you could try buy a new card as this will probably be the cheapest option.

If you are willing to put up with eBay you can get a replacement x800 for £20 @ HERE

Re: Power cutting out on graphics card

As I suggested in another thread you might want to take the card out, disassemble the fan and give it a good clean out. They can get very dusty and once the vents get blocked, build up can cause all sorts of problems.
