    Need help with external HD

    Hi

I have a Western Digital External HD (WD5000E035-00) and i cant seem to get it too appear in my computer?

I plug it into the usb and the 'Found New Hardware' pops up.

I click 'install the software automatically' and allow it to search. Then it says that the hardware was not installed because windows cannot find the software.

Any ideas on how i can get this drive to work?

    thanks

    James

My passport has a bit of a fit if you delete the western digital stuff from the root directory on it?
Even when you do that though it still pops up in my computer though.

If you go to control panel, administrator tools and then disk management. Does it pop up in there in any way?

It may just need 'initialising' (in Disk Management/Storage)?
