    Need PSU Help!!

Well, I came home on Sunday to find my HTPC dead, with a slight burning smell at the back. No power to the board, nothing.

My HTPC is in an Antrec Minuet II case and came with a 220w Antec SL220 PSU, I thought it was a uATX PSU, but it certainly doesn't look like one (dimensions 150x55x83mm):

Where can I find a replacement that will fit? I've seen one on scan http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=559814 but £57.56 for a PSU brand I've never heard of is not appealing - plus I'm not even sure its the right size!!

I've not had chance to hook up the PSU from my main PC yet to confirm what needs replacing, will do that tonight, but I'm thinking the PSU is definitely the most likely.

The HTPC spec it needs to power is as follows:
    AMDx2 4000
    2Gb DDR2
    Abit AN-M2HD
    Pinnacle Dual DVB-T Pro
    80Gb Samsung
    750Gb Samsung F1
    Belkin USB wifi
    Windows Vista 32bit

Have you tried emailling antec? They are suprisingly quick and generous I'm sure they will help.

Have just sent them an email...I've no idea if the PSU is within warranty as I only realised today that Antec have a 3yr warranty on everything as standard, 5yrs on some premium components.

With any luck I'll get it replaced, although not before sending to Holland first

By the looks of the price of those little PSUs, I'd be better off buying the Antec NSK2480 case with the PSU included and selling my Minuet case!

    Re: Need PSU Help!!

Can someone confirm that this will run my HTPC??

I was previously using an Antec 220w PSU, specs in link:

I was going to buy the Antec NSK2480 or the Fusion, but its an annoying 3cm too wide to fit in the TV stand shelf

    Re: Need PSU Help!!

The supermicro PSU you linked to will be of excellent quality. Supermicro make quality components used by businesses in servers where high degree of releaibility is required.

Don't know if they make their own PSUs though or re-badge. Their motherboards are rock solid. You are dealing with a good brand not a also ran cheap chinese import

Regarding the Seasonic PSU (Seasonic are a top Power supply brand who alos make the Corsair branded PSUs) it is rated to 250W so should cope if you previously managed on 220W Antec. ( Seasonic is bound to be more efficient). They have given the dimensions if thats what you are worried about.

    Re: Need PSU Help!!

I figured Supermicro might be a good industry brand, but never heard of them for general PSUs I might buy.

The Seasonic is £20 cheaper at LinITX than the Supermicro at Scan, so I might just go for that given its also a reputable brand.

I just need it to be very quiet given its in a HTPC, but these PSUs have absolutely zero reviews as they're not mainstream components!

    Have a look here

    http://www.silentpcreview.com/article699-page1.html

The Seasonics are generally very low noise PSUs. All the top rated PSUs for low noise tend to be Seasonic made (apart from the Enermax Modu82+ which wouldn't suit you as its the lager format)
