    Need a favour - E6600 owners

Strange question to ask but could some of you with E6600 please run superpi and tell me your times

preferably at stock settings (tell me your spec as well) just trying to compare something but need something to compare too

    cheers

EDIT: download link at the top of this page: http://www.xtremesystems.com/pi/

    Re: Need a favour - E6600 owners

excellent thank you, reason being is i used to have an E6600, and im now using an E2180 and wanted to know what sort of clock speed i would need to clock to in order to get a near equal performance (super pi was the easiest thing i could think of without other pieces of hardware effecting it too much)

obviously its not entirely accurate but its as close as im going to get

    Re: Need a favour - E6600 owners

ok quick question.. which do i trust, TAT or Asus probe?

    intels TAT shows:
    idle - 29/30
    max - 46/47

    while Asus probe shows:
    idle - 34
    max - 51

This is an E2180 at 2.66ghz under an arctic freezer 7 pro which has been lapped (as has the processors HS) only built it last night mind so AS5 hasnt settled yet

    Re: Need a favour - E6600 owners

I get 21.640, yes mines not an e6600 (technically) but superpi isn't multithreaded so it kinda counts

btw the speed isn't dependant on the cpu also the ram helps too.

    I was running at 6400 speeds 4-4-4-12.

Rams at stock speeds and timmings: 800 / 4-4-4-12
CPU is the only thing im clocking at the moment (no idea of its limit), currently at: 266x10 (2.66ghz stock voltages etc)

    1mb time of: 23.344

The last time i was an overclocker was back in the days of the barton 2500 which i had under phasechange cooling, but back in those days we had a simple 6-7 different memory settings, fsb and multi and that was it, now theres so much more you can change im quite lost

just doing it the old fashioned way... find limit of CPU, followed by limit of the ram, combine them and thats my limit...is that the way its still done? lol

    Re: Need a favour - E6600 owners

The fact that TAT & Coretemp agree doesn't mean anything except that they are using the same value for TJMax. That may, or may not, be the correct value. They, Everest, Real Temp, and probably others, will all get the same reading from the on-core diodes. The value they have set for TJMax will determine what they report.

Asus Probe OTOH gets its reading from the die. It ought to show a temp lower than the others, pretty close at idle but 5C after being under load for some time. It can be much lower when core's first come under load.

One, or both, of the two is reporting incorrectly if TAT shows lower temps than AP. If Probe is right then TAT could be 10C too low, and I suspect is, based on your chip, the OC and the HSF. 46/47 under load would be extremely good with that setup.

just ran prime95 (one instance per core) and asus probe hit a max of 53oC, TAT hit a max of 46oC, thats after about an hour of primeing

Im willing to bet AP is the closest one, though i might get a small temperature probe to try and get a more accurate reading

Yeah I'd trust Probe there and presume that TAT was 8-10C out. A core should be a little bit hotter than the die after an extended period under load.
