    Re: @Moogle in here mate

    Okay here goes,

Took me ages to download the manual, needed rapidshare to download infact otherwise I'd have been waiting 4 hours!

When you're in the bios goto MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.), disable C.I.A.2 it'll mess up ocing.

    Keep Performance Enhance on Standard.

The manual doesn't tell me what options are available for System Memory Multiplier, this is what you need to change for the memory to run at 800 speeds. If you could see what options are available on those and report back that would be great. Unless you understand what the settings in that part mean and set it to 1:1 then you're fine.

I'm looking for bios screens to see what options there are for that part but the System Memory Multiplier is what you need to be changing then you're all set with your 1:1 memory ratio.

    Re: @Moogle in here mate

I have a Gigabyte motherboard and to get your ratio to 1:1 you need to set the RAM multiplier option to 2.0a/b/c the letters don't really make a difference they are just if you are using standard core frequency so a for 266Mhz, b for 333Mhz and c for 400Mhz. Basically its the first option from whichever letter you choose and it will set the ratio to 1:1. I have mine set at 2.0c and its working great at 1:1 ratio

Set the System Memory Multiplier from [Auto] to [2.0c] or whichever letter you prefer(the letters as said above don't really mean anything when overclocking because you over-ride them with the new core clock).

Yeah it is at first but you get used to it... I really don't understand why the hell they can't all just use the ratio, would be so much easier.

    Re: @Moogle in here mate

Yeah it seems Gigabyte make it a little bit harder.

See that option I've outlined in red, does that change when you set your fsb to 400? If so what does it change to. What you should do is set your fsb to 400 again, then choose one of the settings in the System Memory Multiplier (After setting it to manual) and when it says 800 you know you have a 1:1 ratio.

Here's a list of things you should set manually when going into the bios.

    Robust Graphics Booster: Disabled
    PCI-E: 100 Mhz
Performance Enhance: Standard, Auto, Disabled or Normal (Might mess with the overclock)
System Memory Multiplier: When your FSB is set to 400 in bios (doesn't need to be set and saved, just change it in bios so you get a prediction of the speeds of the ram when you change the multi) change this to Manual and select an option 1 by 1 which makes Memory Frequency show as 800Mhz.

Also on the DDR2 voltage control see if you can set that to the voltage your ram uses. If you can find a product page for your ram it should tell you what voltage to run the ram at.

Hopefully when you get back you'll have it tweaked at 1:1 running at 3.6Ghz
You could tweak more by lowering the rest of the voltages shown in the 2nd image if you wanted to but if it's a hassle for you, you can leave it. Although lowering the CPU voltage gives quite a significant decrease in power, so if your CPU can run at 3.6GHz on lower volts I'd say keep going. It will decrease your temps even further. Heat = Resistance = Power Loss or More energy used/wasted.

I'll see you after work then

w00t w00t its all working, nice one moogle, cheers for your help.still haven't changed any voltage, left that on auto, can't be bothered to fine tune it.i'm not (yet) into hardcore overclocking but this has taught me a lot.cheers.

    Re: @Moogle in here mate

    aha!
Glad to see you've got it working. Now just for a safe measure run prime again with the blend setting and round off checking on for about 1 hour or more if you don't mind. Just to make sure it's still stable. Once that's done you'll be all set

after hour and a half (ish) luvverly jubberly

now lets say for arguments sake i want to put the cpu down to its stock 3 gigs how would i keep the ram ratio 1:1 ? by changing the multiplier again ?

    Re: @Moogle in here mate

you'd need to lock the cpu multiplier at 7.5 if there is such an option. otherwise you cant have a 1:1 ratio and keep stock speed. You can go below stock speed and keep a 1:1 ratio then you'll be running at 2.6ghz with less performance. I don't know why you'd want to lower it anyway. If you have speedstep on and eist it will keep your cpu running at it's lowest multi idle and it will increase the multiplier under load saving energy if thats what you're worried about.

    but nice priming
